Taylor ham, cheddar cheese, and a fried egg on a hard roll.
Serves: 1 sandwich
  • 2 thick slices Taylor ham, sliced at 4 sides (for even cooking)
  • 2 slices cheddar (or American, if you want to get traditional) cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 hard roll
  1. Get out a very large pan so you can do this in one go, if you have it. Otherwise, I recommend 2 pans.
  2. Slice the ham at 4 sides to be sure that it cooks evenly and doesn't roll up. Fry it on both sides for 1 minute or so over medium-high heat and set aside. In the same pan, toast the cut sides of your roll, then top with cheese and place a lid on the pan so the cheese steams and melts. Place the ham on top and set aside, covered, if possible, to stay warm.
  3. While you do that, fry your egg over medium-high heat, until the whites are cooked but the yolk is still runny. You can flip it for an over-easy egg, if you like. Top the cheese and ham with the egg, place the other side of the roll on top of that, slice, and serve. Have napkins at the ready!
